Charity is a primary focus for Blue Goose

The Virginia Pond and its Puddles support many local charities through service and fundraising activities, and have contributed tens of thousands of dollars in recent years.  Below is a list of some of the Virginia charities we support on a regular basis.  Click on the logo to visit a charity’s website.

ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation is a non-profit group that provides assistance, support and kindness when kids and their families need it most.  ASK provides assistance from the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.

BCANLogoBladder Cancer Advocacy Network is an organization comprized of survivors, advocates, medical and research professionals.  Their goal is to provide support services to individuals and families affected by bladder cancer, advance research, and raise awareness about the 6th most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S.

Church Hill Activities and Tutoring (C.H.A.T.) is a Richmond neighborhood based program that is breaking the cycle of poverty for East End youth by providing the relationships, vision and opportunity they need to make good decisions.  Founded and staffed by individuals in the community, it provides a deep and wide range of activities and 1:1 tutoring for kids aged 2 to 20.

EDMARCEdmarc Hospice for Children provides home healthcare, hospice care and bereavement support to families in the Tidewater area who are dealing with the a child’s illness and death.  In addition to fundraising, the Tidewater Puddle does annual service projects for Edmarc, including gardening, painting, etc.

The Foundation for Rehabilitation Equipment Endowment is a volunteer led organization that collects used mobility equipment, refurbishes it, and gifts it to uninsured and underinsured adults in Virginia.  In addition to the Pond’s financial support, Virginia Pond members volunteer regularly – picking up and delivering equipment.

Laticia’s House Foundation is an organization that restores the lives of young ladies who fall victim to the sex trafficking industry.  Founded in Virginia and by the wife of a Blue Goose member, it is a holistic program that provides safe housing, medical care, counseling, education and job training to women from all over the United States. 

Operation First Response

Operation First Response, Inc., supports our nation’s Wounded Heroes and their families with personal and financial needs. Services are provided from the onset of injury, throughout their recovery period and along their journey from military life into the civilian world.

servewarriorsServe Our Willing Warriors has established the Bull Run Warrior Retreat in beautiful Haymarket, VA.  Situated on 44 acres on the edge of the Bull Run Mountains, our 11,000 square foot house will provide “a home away from home” for our outpatient Warriors + Their Families currently residing at the nearby hospitals, where they stay as our honored guests at the retreat that was created just for them.

The USO of Hampton Roads and Central Virginia is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that provides support to U.S. Armed Forces personnel and their families worldwide.  A USO Center was opened at the Richmond Airport in 2010.  The Virginia Pond annually donates funds and snack items during the USO’s busy holiday season.
